This stunning 18th-century print depicts the interior of the Saint Peter Nolasco Church in Barcelona, Spain. The church, which is part of the Mercedarian Order, is a remarkable example of Baroque architecture and is renowned for its intricate decoration and beautiful frescoes. At the heart of the church lies the dome, where the frescoes by the French artist Joseph Flaugier come to life. The central image is the Glorification of the Virgin Mary, surrounded by angels and the twelve apostles. The angels, depicted with outstretched wings, pay homage to the exalted Virgin Mary, who is shown in a state of divine glory, surrounded by the Holy Trinity.
