April 24, 1964: Witness to a UFO Landing - Lonnie Zamora, Socorro, New Mexico This historic photograph captures the moment of intrigue and wonder as Lonnie Zamora, a New Mexico police officer, recounts his encounter with an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) in Socorro, New Mexico, on April 24, 1964. The event is considered one of the most well-documented and credible UFO sightings in American history. Zamora, a young and experienced officer, was on patrol when he came across an unusual scene. He reported seeing a shiny, metallic object with a dome-like structure, hovering just off the side of the road.
