EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a Royal Air Force Puma helicopter soaring through the skies over Kenya during Exercise Askari Thunder. The intense training event, set in austere and expeditionary conditions lasting up to 30 days, is designed to enhance the battle group's collective competence at a CTC level 3. In this particular exercise, the 2 Scots Battle Group has been deployed with the aim of achieving CTC level 3 proficiency. To support their mission, HQ 1 Mechanized Brigade staff and attached personnel were also present from March 18th to March 30th, 2012. Their presence ensured effective coordination and control as they provided both HICON (Higher Control) and EXCON (Exercise Control). The RAF Puma helicopter featured in this image plays a crucial role in these operations by providing essential air support and transportation capabilities. As part of the Royal Air Force fleet, it showcases cutting-edge equipment that enables swift movement across challenging terrains.
