EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the majestic beauty of the Luxor Obelisk at the center of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Standing tall and proud, this ancient Egyptian obelisk is adorned with intricate hieroglyphics that tell tales of the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II. Gifted to France by Muhammad Ali Pasha, the self-declared Khedive of Egypt, this 3,300-year-old monument holds a rich history within its stone walls.
Originally marking the entrance to Luxor Temple in Egypt, this obelisk now stands as a symbol of cultural exchange between nations. Arriving in Paris in 1833 and placed in its current location three years later by King Louis Philippe, it has become an iconic landmark in the heart of the city.
As you gaze upon this image, you can almost feel the weight of history that surrounds this ancient artifact.
