The Duchess, who was born Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, is shown wearing a high-waisted, waisted dress that was fashionable during the 1810s. The dress features puff sleeves, a lacy collar, and a curly hairstyle that was popular among the Georgian and Regency-era aristocracy. Adelaide is seen holding a pocket book in her left hand and gazing off into the distance with a thoughtful expression. Her neck is adorned with an intricate necklace, adding an air of sophistication and elegance to her attire. The Duchess is surrounded by a group of ladies, their own fashionable attire reflecting the latest trends of the time. At the time this portrait was taken, Adelaide was the wife of Prince William, Duke of Clarence.
