The image, published in the "Illustrated London News," showcases the serene and majestic fjord, framed by towering mountains and the vast expanse of the sea. The Fiord of Kangerlic, also known as Kajarlik or Kangerlic, is a geographical feature of great interest to mineralogists. This remote and untouched corner of the world is the locality where rare minerals such as eudialite, sodalite, and arfvedsonite were discovered. Intriguingly, these minerals were not only found in the eponymous cryolite, but also imbedded within it were crystals of a previously unseen variety of tantalite. The cryolite deposits in the Fiord of Kangerlic were a treasure trove of natural resources. Besides the silver lead ore, yellow copper ore, blende sparry iron ore, molybdenum tin stone in fine crystals, arsenical pyrites, fluor-spar, felspar, and quartz were also found. The discovery of these minerals would have significant implications for the scientific community and the world of industry. This image, taken by an unknown photographer, offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the natural wonders of the world were still being discovered and explored.
