Ka Cawnpore, a significant city in North India, was a major commercial and military center during the British colonial era. Ka Cawnpore would play an important part in the Indian Mutiny, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny, which broke out in 1857. The city's strategic location along the Ganges made it a crucial battleground in the conflict. The Battle of Cawnpore, fought in September 1857, saw the British forces led by Sir Colin Campbell successfully repelling the rebel sepoys, but at a great cost.
