Jacobs sword is similar to the pattern 1857 Royal Engineers Officers sword. It has the new fullered blade (with a longitudinal groove) used on both heavy cavalry swords and more akin to that used, in brass, for Royal Engineer officers after 1857. The blade is inscribed to the Bombay Artillery and the Scinde Irregular Horse.
