Colonization of Cyprus by the Phoenicians (litho)

8660878 Colonization of Cyprus by the Phoenicians (litho) by Rowlandson, George Derville (1861-1930) (after); Private Collection; (add.info.: Colonization of Cyprus by the Phoenicians. Cyprus, with its great mineral wealth and fertile soil, so near the mainland as to be visible from the slopes of Lebanon, must at a very early date have attracted Phoenician colonists. They interpenetrated the island with their arts and crafts to such an extent that it may be regarded as a Greater Phoenicia, although there was already a civilized population there, probably mainly Greek.
