The Crowning of Otto II and Theophano - A Symbolic Union of Power and Blessing
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print captures a remarkable moment in history, depicting "The Crowning of Otto II (955-983) and Theophano (958-991)" from a plaque binding dating back to the 10th century. Measuring at 18x10 cm, this ivory masterpiece is housed in the Musee National du Moyen Age et des Thermes de Cluny in Paris. At its center stands Christ, under a majestic canopy, flanked by Emperor Otto II and Empress Theophano. Both royals are adorned in resplendent imperial attire.
