Captain Charles Albert Adams (1846-1929), a U.S. naval officer who served as the commander of the USS Recruit, a wooden mockup of a battleship built in Union Square, New York City by the Navy to recruit seamen and sell Liberty Bonds during World War I. With Adams are Mrs. Olive Mitchel, wife of New York Mayor John Purroy Mitchel (1879-1918) and a child, Jack Adams.
