During the night of 18/19 June 1940, the German bomber found itself in a fierce air battle with the RAF Blenheim 1Fs based at Collyweston, Northamptonshire, UK. With no other option, Major von Massenbach and his crew were forced to ditch the aircraft in the sea. The crew managed to escape and were later captured by the British forces.
