Queen Victoria was particularly fond of her great-grandchildren and liked nothing more than to have them about her. This photograph taken at Osborne House, Isle of Wight, shows (left to right) seated on cushion Prince Albert known as " Bertie" later George VI, (1895 1952), Princess Mary, (1897 1965), Prince Edward of Wales (future Edward VIII) and then Duke of Windsor, (1894 1972) and baby Prince Henry, (1900 1974).

This enchanting photograph captures a precious moment in time as Queen Victoria, the indomitable monarch who ruled the British Empire from 1837 to 1901, is surrounded by her cherished great-grandchildren at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Seated on a plush cushion, Queen Victoria (1819-1901) gazes fondly at her great-grandchildren, who were the delight of her later years. To her left, we find Prince Albert, later King George VI (1895-1952), the eldest of the children in the image, dressed in a sailor suit. Next to him is Princess Mary (1897-1965), wearing a pretty white dress and a bow in her hair. The future King Edward VIII, later the Duke of Windsor (1894-1972), is seen in a suit and a serious expression, while the youngest child in the photograph, baby Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (1900-1974), is nestled in his mother's lap, wearing a white shirt and a black bow.
