The Society was established to commemorate the brave soldiers who fought in the Battle of Cotagaita during the Bolivian War of Independence, which also marked a significant moment in the Argentine War of Independence. The Battle of Cotagaita took place on October 27, 1810, as part of the larger South American struggle for independence from Spanish rule.
