Squire Brown Willis of Whaddon Hall started the custom several centuries ago by providing in his will for a perpetual fund to pay for the annual celebration. In view of a crowd of Fenny Stratford townspeople, the Vicar of St. Martin s, Rev. C. A. Wheeler, sets off the Poppers. P034203
