Meanwhile, pole-sitter James Hunt's McLaren M26 is already struggling after spinning out on lap 27. Rounding out the front row is Jody Scheckter's Wolf WR1, which unfortunately retired from the race due to a blown engine on lap 24.
This momentous scene showcases some of F1's greatest drivers and machines in their prime. The Italian Grand Prix was one of only two races that year where Andretti didn't win (he took home victory at Monza), while Lauda would go on to secure his first World Championship title later that season.
