EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled ""Will you walk a little faster? said a Whiting to a Snail"" takes us on a whimsical journey into the enchanting world of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". Illustrated by Peter Newell in 1901, this lithograph captures the essence of Carroll's timeless tale. The image depicts an intriguing encounter between a curious Whiting and a slow-moving Snail. The Whiting, eager to hasten their pace, implores the Snail to quicken its steps. The scene is filled with fantastical elements, transporting viewers into the imaginative realm where animals speak and logic defies reason. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" has captivated readers for generations with its blend of nonsensical storytelling and vivid imagery. Dodgson, writing under his pen name Lewis Carroll, weaves together a narrative that challenges conventional thinking while delighting both children and adults alike. Newell's illustration perfectly complements Carroll's text by bringing these eccentric characters to life. The intricate details captured through lithography highlight the peculiarities of each creature and add depth to their personalities. As one gazes upon this print, they are transported back in time to Alice's extraordinary journey down the rabbit hole. It serves as a reminder of the enduring power of literature and how it continues to inspire artists across different mediums. This particular artwork from Fine Art Finder allows us to appreciate not only Newell's artistic talent but also pays homage to Carroll’s literary masterpiece that has left an indelible mark on popular culture and fantasy literature.
