EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the iconic painting of Bernhard A-sterman King Gustav V Gustav V 1858-1950. The portrait depicts Crown Prince of Sweden and Norway, King of Sweden, alongside his wife Viktoria, Princess of Baden. Painted by Bernhard Osterman with oil on canvas, this masterpiece measures 135 cm in height and 90.5 cm in width. The frame surrounding the artwork unfortunately suffered damage during unpacking on June 16th, 1925. However, despite this setback, the beauty and significance of the painting remain intact. The top list bears inscriptions made with pencil: "G" "em" "672" and "5". On the left side of the center is a pencil marking that reads "JAMES BOURLET & SONS Ltd. , Fine Arts Packers Frame Makers". A printed label can be found at the top right corner of the center which states: "AKTIEBOLAGET WILH BECKER KUNGL HOF SUPPLIER 5 MALMTORGSGATAN 5 Stockholm COLOR DIVISION". Additionally, there is a stamp in an oval shape located at the center lock on the frame. Despite its damaged frame and various markings indicating its journey through time and hands that have cared for it over decades since its creation in honor of King Gustav V's legacy as a ruler. This remarkable piece captures not only his regal presence but also serves as a testament
