In this Roman mosaic, we find Anaximander of Miletus (610-546 BC), a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher, deeply engrossed in the study of a sundial. Anaximander was a significant figure in ancient Greek civilization, belonging to the Milesian school and a student of the renowned philosopher Thales. Anaximander is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to cosmology and astronomy.
