This striking image captures King George VI (1895-1952), the sixth monarch of the House of Windsor, in the prestigious uniform of Marshal of the Air Force. King George VI, who ascended to the throne following the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, in 1936, was deeply committed to the Royal Air Force (RAF).
