The painting, titled "His Master's Voice," was inspired by a real-life incident where Barraud's brother-in-law played a phonograph recording for his dog, who, like Nipper, seemed to be listening intently to the music. The version of "His Master's Voice" depicted in this photo print, however, is a unique variation titled "V-ice, England."
