Blackpool Tower is a tourist attraction in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, which was opened to the public on 14 May 1894. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it is 518 feet (158 metres) tall and is the 120th tallest freestanding tower in the world.[ The tower is a Grade I listed building.
Two Lancashire architects, James Maxwell and Charles Tuke, designed the Tower and oversaw the laying of its foundation stone[4] on 29 September 1891.[5] By the time the Tower finally opened on 14 May 1894, both men had died.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the iconic Blackpool Tower in its early stages of construction. Taken circa 1892-1894, the image showcases the tower unfinished, surrounded by a bustling promenade and seaside goers enjoying their day at the pleasure beach. Blackpool Tower, located in Lancashire, England, is a renowned tourist attraction that opened to the public on May 14th, 1894. Standing tall at an impressive height of 518 feet (158 meters), it was inspired by Paris' Eiffel Tower and ranks as the 120th tallest freestanding tower worldwide. The tower holds significant historical value as it is listed as a Grade I building. The architects behind this magnificent structure were James Maxwell and Charles Tuke from Lancashire.
