EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we see schoolchildren from St Agnes RC Primary School and Park View Primary School in Huyton, England, using old Christmas cards to spread an important message about recycling. The young students eagerly handed these cards to members of the Countryside Commission at the Boots store on a chilly Friday morning in January 1994. These resourceful children understood the value of recycling and wanted to make a positive impact on their environment. By collecting and recycling these old Christmas cards, they aimed to raise funds for planting trees in the beautiful Mersey Forest. Their efforts were not only commendable but also inspiring. Joining them in this noble cause were Knowsley South MP Eddie O'Hare and Knowsley councillors Ron Round and Bernard Donnelly. This event showcased how politics could unite people towards a common goal - protecting our planet for future generations. The image captures the innocence and enthusiasm of these schoolchildren as they engage with local politicians while holding stacks of colorful Christmas cards.
