EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the elegant and enigmatic figure of Alexandra-Feodorovna, the Empress of Russia. Born Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine, she became Empress consort to Nicholas II, the last Tsar of the Russian Empire. With her regal presence and dignified demeanor, Alexandra is a true embodiment of royalty. As a granddaughter of Queen Victoria, Alexandra carried herself with grace and sophistication befitting her esteemed lineage. However, it was her role as the last Tsaritsa that would forever etch her name in history. Known for being one of the most famous carriers of haemophilia disease within royal circles, she faced immense challenges in caring for her son who suffered from this condition. Alexandra's unwavering support for authoritarian control over Russia also played a significant role in shaping her legacy. Her controversial friendship with Grigori Rasputin added another layer to an already complex life story. In 2000, Alexandra was canonized as Saint Alexandra the Passion Bearer by the Russian Orthodox Church. This recognition further solidifies her place among revered figures throughout history. Through this mesmerizing portrait captured by Royalty from TopFoto in 2007, we are transported back to an era where empresses ruled with poise and power. The veil delicately draped over Alexandra's head adds an air of mystery to this timeless image. This print serves as a poignant reminder of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on Russian history as both an influential monarch and a devoted mother fighting against adversity.
