Tommy Handley, Joan Harbin, Molly Weir and Tini Goss, drop-in at the local before
Tommy Handley, Joan Harbin, Molly Weir and Tini Goss, drop-in at the local before giving a complete Itma show to 500 ex-servicemen at a Welcome Home in the tiny Sussex village of Wadhurst, last night (Saturday). The show was given voluntarily by the company, and a cheque for ?60, to be donated to That Mans favourite charity, was handed to him afterwards. The absence of Colonel Chinstrap from the picture is probably explained by the absence of drinks in the bar counter.

Tommy Handley, Joan Harbin, Molly Weir and Tini Goss - A Night of Laughter and Generosity in Wadhurst
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photograph captured by TopFoto. co. uk on 9th March 1947, we witness a heartwarming moment as renowned entertainers Tommy Handley, Joan Harbin, Molly Weir, and Tini Goss gather at the local pub before delivering an unforgettable Itma show to 500 ex-servicemen in the charming Sussex village of Wadhurst. Radiating with joy and camaraderie, these talented actors selflessly volunteered their time to bring laughter and entertainment to those who had sacrificed so much for their country. The image captures a sense of anticipation as they prepare themselves mentally for the performance ahead. The absence of Colonel Chinstrap from the picture is humorously attributed to the lack of drinks on the bar counter. Perhaps he was busy ensuring everything was set up perfectly for the evening's event or simply taking a break from his duties. Notably, after their remarkable performance concluded, a generous donation of £60 was presented to Tommy Handley's favorite charity. This act exemplifies not only their talent but also their compassion towards those less fortunate. This monochrome portrait transports us back to an era where live performances were cherished moments that brought communities together. It serves as a timeless reminder of how entertainment can uplift spirits while fostering unity among people from all walks of life.
