The renowned Jean Paul Getty resided here for the last 17 years of his life. The image is a reproduction of an original work by Joseph Nash, who meticulously documented English mansions in his four-volume masterpiece "Mansions of England in the Olden Time" published between 1839 and 1849. The photograph captures the grandeur of Sutton Place's exterior with its stunning architecture and picturesque courtyard. In the foreground stands a man accompanied by two horses and a loyal dog, adding life to the scene. This snapshot transports us back to early 20th-century England when literature thrived and country houses like Sutton Place were symbols of wealth and prestige. The print originates from "The Connoisseur" magazine dated around 1909-1910, showcasing its historical significance as a valuable piece of art documentation. It serves as a testament to both Nash's artistic talent and Getty's appreciation for fine estates. With its rich history intertwined with notable figures such as King Henry VIII himself, Sutton Place remains an architectural gem that continues to captivate admirers even today.
