Amida (also known as Amitabha or Amitayus), is a celestial buddha according to the scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism. Amida is the principal buddha in Pure Land Buddhism, (Mahayana Buddhism, branch of East Asian Buddhism) and is also known as The Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life.
