EDITORS COMMENTS
Once upon a time in 1911, the beloved puppet Pinocchio found himself in a predicament of great anticipation and excitement. With a sack full of golden coins at his side, the poor boy could hardly contain his imagination as he envisioned the lavish feast he was about to enjoy. The golden pieces glinted in the sunlight, their allure irresistible to the young wooden figure. But as Pinocchio sat down at the table, laden with an abundance of food, a pang of unease crept in. His stomach rumbled, and his heart felt heavy. The gold coins, once a symbol of wealth and prosperity, had suddenly become a cause for indigestion. The illustration captures the moment of realization for Pinocchio, as he looks at the food before him with a mix of longing and dread. Surrounded by a menagerie of animals, each eager to partake in the feast, Pinocchio's anticipation had given way to a different kind of discomfort. This historical image, taken from an early edition of the classic children's book, offers a glimpse into the timeless tale of Pinocchio's adventures. The illustration's intricate details and vivid colors bring the story to life, transporting us back to a simpler time when the imagination could turn gold coins into a feast, and a poor boy's dreams could come true.
