EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Royal Cornwall Museum takes us back in time to Trelowarren Street, Camborne, Cornwall, around 1870. The image beautifully captures a snapshot of daily life during this era. As we gaze upon the scene, our eyes are drawn to the charming row of houses lining both sides of the street. These buildings exude character with their traditional architecture and rustic facades. Their windows reveal glimpses into lives lived long ago. The cobbled road stretches out before us, worn by countless footsteps and horse-drawn carriages that once traversed its surface. It is a testament to the history and heritage embedded within these streets. Pedestrians can be seen strolling along the pavements on either side of the road. Men in top hats and waistcoats walk alongside women adorned in elegant Victorian attire - an intriguing glimpse into fashion trends of yesteryears. This photograph transports us back to a time when life moved at a slower pace; where neighbors greeted each other warmly as they went about their day-to-day activities. Trelowarren Street stands frozen in time through this remarkable image, allowing us to appreciate its historical significance and imagine what it must have been like for those who called it home over 150 years ago.
