Alexander Spirin, Soviet biochemist

Alexander Sergeevich Spirin (born 1931), Soviet biochemist. Spirins work with Belozersky in 1957 predicted the existence of messenger RNA. He also worked on the structure and function of ribosomes. He was awarded the Krebs Medal in 1969. He is a Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and Director of its Protein Institute. Photographed in 1984, in Puschino, in the Moscow region of Russia
