This lithograph captures the dramatic accident that occurred to "Shamrock II" on 22 May, as well as the King's visit to the yacht and his narrow escape. The artwork, created by Henry Charles Seppings Wright, showcases a pivotal moment in history that was documented in The Illustrated London News on 1 June 1901. In this scene, we witness the aftermath of a harrowing incident at sea. "Shamrock II" owned by Sir Thomas Lipton, is shown dismasted and wrecked after an unfortunate mishap. Despite the chaos surrounding them, brave rescuers can be seen aboard other yachts attempting to save those stranded on board. The lithograph also depicts King Edward VII visiting the damaged yacht during Cowes Parade. His presence adds an air of importance and urgency to the situation. Miraculously, it is revealed that His Majesty narrowly escaped harm during this tumultuous event.
