The Duke of Devonshire's esteemed guests included the Duke of Cambridge, His Serene Highness Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar, and approximately 800 members of the aristocracy. The Grand Saloon, a magnificent apartment, is adorned with decorations designed by John Gregory Crace in the style of the renowned artist Charles Le Brun. Originally serving as the entrance vestibule, this grand room now forms one of the most impressive apartments in the building, following the construction of a new grand staircase by the Duke of Devonshire.
