The Dragon Rapide, a versatile and popular aircraft during the interwar period, was manufactured by de Havilland Aircraft Company between 1934 and 1939. The Dragon Rapide was known for its advanced features, including a fully enclosed cabin, retractable landing gear, and a twin-wasp engine. It was capable of carrying up to nine passengers and could reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour. The aircraft was also used for various purposes, including passenger transport, mail delivery, and even as a military trainer. G-AHKA, in particular, has an interesting history. It was originally delivered to the South African Airways in 1937 and was later used by the South African Air Force during World War II. After the war, it returned to civilian use and was eventually acquired by a private owner in the United Kingdom.
