Fine Art Prints from Science Photo Library
Pictorial periodic table
Pictorial periodic table. The periodic table shows the chemical elements ordered by atomic number (number of protons in the nucleus), but arranged in rows (periods) so that elements with similar chemistry occur in the same vertical column (group). The standard periodic table has 118 elements arranged in 18 groups and 7 periods. Here, each element is represented by its chemical symbol and an image. Above each symbol is the elements atomic number, and below it is the elements name. The lathanoids and actinoids are expanded at bottom. This periodic table uses the standard names and data published by IUPAC (the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) in 2005. Elements 113 to 118 have yet to be fully authenticated and have temporary names

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Pictorial Periodic Table, a visual representation of the chemical elements organized by their atomic number and arranged in rows and columns based on their similar chemistry. With a white background, this official and internationally recognized table presents each element through its chemical symbol accompanied by an image that represents its unique properties. Above each symbol lies the element's atomic number, while below it rests the name of the corresponding element. The comprehensive table includes 118 elements grouped into 18 vertical columns (groups) and seven horizontal rows (periods). Notably, at the bottom of the table, you will find an expanded section dedicated to lathanoids and actinoids. Published by IUPAC in 2005 using standard names and data, this periodic table serves as a fundamental tool for scientists studying various fields such as physical chemistry, taxonomy systems, classification theories, elemental properties, systematic elements' names, composite specimens, and more. It is important to note that elements 113 to 118 are yet to be fully authenticated; thus they carry temporary names. This artwork provides valuable information about metals, non-metals including halogens and noble gases alike. It also highlights transition metals like alkali metals or alkaline earth metals along with chalcogens. The Pictorial Periodic Table presented here offers an insightful glimpse into the fascinating world of chemical elements while honoring standards set forth by IUPAC – making it an invaluable resource for researchers worldwide.
