Born on October 13, 1892, in New Palace, Potsdam, Victoria Louise was the eldest daughter of the German Emperor Wilhelm II and his second wife, Empress Frederick. Raised in the opulent surroundings of the German imperial court, Victoria Louise's childhood was marked by grandeur and tradition. She received an education befitting her royal status, learning various skills and subjects that would prepare her for her future role as a princess consort. As a young woman, Victoria Louise captured the attention of Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick (1887-1953), who was known for his strong military background and charismatic personality.
