"Gentry: A Glimpse into the Lives of the Privileged" Step back in time and explore the world of gentry, as we delve into their opulent lifestyles and grand residences. Oxton House, nestled in Devon, was once the seat of Rev. John Beaumont Swete, a prominent figure among this elite class. Its magnificent architecture and sprawling grounds were a testament to his status. Pynes House in Exeter, Devon stood tall in 1825 as a symbol of wealth and prestige. It exuded elegance with its regal façade and lavish interiors that hosted extravagant gatherings for high society. Carclew House in Mylor, Cornwall witnessed Sir Charles Lemon's presence alongside his beloved niece Louisa Ann Dyke around 1860. This picturesque estate served as a backdrop for cherished family moments amidst its breathtaking surroundings. The Polhill-Turner family captured Victorian charm effortlessly; one photograph showcases an elegant woman adorned with fashion trends of her time while another portrays a loving mother surrounded by her three adoring children. These images provide glimpses into the daily lives of this privileged class during the era.
