Discover the rich history of heraldry through these intriguing images. The first shield depicts the arms of Söderhamn, a Swedish city burned by the Russians in 1721. Its origins are unknown, but they can be seen in a turn-of-the-century Russian publication. The next set of images come from a 1914 book showcasing the seals of provinces and oblasts in Asiatic Russia. The third and fourth images are from the International Exhibition of 1862, featuring a Morant, Boyd, and Morant sideboard and the awards given at the event. The last two images date back further, with a 1580 frontispiece of the Bamberger Highcourt and a 1756 portrait of Felix Brenwald, whose shield is also unknown. Explore the stories behind these shields and the history they represent.
