Laing Management Contracting worked on the construction of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on behalf of the North West Thames Regional Health Authority between 1989 and 1993. The new teaching hospital was built on the site of the old St Stephens Hospital, which was demolished in the early months of 1989. The use of fast track construction techniques enabled the entire project to be completed in less than 5 years, and the hospital was officially opened by the Queen on 13 May 1993

Constructed by Laing Management Contracting on behalf of the North West Thames Regional Health Authority between 1989 and 1993, this teaching hospital replaced the old St Stephens Hospital which was demolished earlier that year. The use of innovative fast track construction techniques allowed for its completion in less than five years. On May 13th, 1993, with great pride and anticipation filling the air, Queen Elizabeth II officially inaugurated this state-of-the-art facility.
