EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the magnificent Lismore Castle in County Waterford, Ireland, dating back to 1894. The creator of this stunning image remains unknown, adding an air of mystery to its allure. Originally constructed as a sister castle to Ardfinnan Castle in 1185, Lismore Castle served as a guardian of the river crossing during medieval times. It stands on a site previously occupied by the esteemed Lismore Abbey, which held great significance as both a monastery and seat of learning since the early 7th century. The castle underwent extensive rebuilding in the Gothic style during the mid-19th century under the guidance of William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire.
