Esq. Deputy-Governor of the Bank...the Chief Cashier, as President, and the Chief Accountant, the Treasurer of the institution, moved and seconded a vote of thanks to the Court of Directors for the handsome manner in which they had fitted up the Library...in short, the Bank of England Library and Literary Association, aided by the exertions of the committee, and their hon. secretary, Mr. J. R. Durrant, of the Three-and-a-Quarter per Cent Office, bids fair to become one of the most remarkable institutions in the metropolis'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850
