The Battle of Killiecrankie was fought between Highland Scottish clans supporting King James II and VII and troops supporting King William of Orange on 27 July 1689, during the first Jacobite uprising. Sir Ewen Cameron of Lochiel, Chief of Clan Cameron formed a confederation of Highland clans loyal to James and was one of the principal commanders in the Jacobite rising where he fought under the celebrated Viscount Dundee.
