New railway-bridge over the Rhine, near Mayence, 1862. The bridge was...constructed according to the comparatively new system called "Pauli's system", vulgo "Fish-shaped girder system" which seem to be extremely well adapted for large spans, as regards economy and rigidity of structure...The new bridge is built by the Hessische Ludwigs-Bahn Company, and the engineers and contractors for the iron structure...are Messrs. Klet and Co, of Nurnberg. It will form part of the great route from the Rhine to Vienna.
