The wedding cake and gifts presented to Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh and Prince Ernst Ludwig, Grand Duke of Hesse on occasion of their marriage on the 19th April 1894 in Coburg, Germany. The diamond brooch was a gift to Princess Victoria Melita from her grandmother, Queen Victoria, and the silver-framed mirror came from the officers of the 1st Wiltshire Regiment. The wedding cake was prepared by Messrs. Gunter and co. of Berkeley Square and stood at five feet, six inches high, weighing about 150 lbs. Date: 1894
