This intriguing photograph captures a moment during a séance led by the Austrian spiritualist medium Willi Schneider (1903-1971) in his hometown of Braunau. The image, taken with a flashlight, shows a white cloth "phantom" pinned to a curtain by a safety pin. Schneider, the brother of Rudi Schneider, was a subject of intense investigation by notable psychical researchers Harry Price, Albert von Schrenck-Notzing, and Eric J. Dingwall. During the séance, Schneider was known to produce materializations and other paranormal phenomena. In this instance, the appearance of the white cloth on the curtain was observed by a group of researchers and observers, including Price, Schrenck-Notzing, and Dingwall.
