HIV antibody therapy, molecular model F006 / 9622

HIV antibody therapy. Molecular model of the interaction of the HIV surface protein gp120 (green) as it interacts with a human white blood cell surface protein (CD4, blue) and the anti-HIV antibody (17B, yellow and orange). HIV (the human immunodeficiency virus) causes AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). The antibody neutralises the effect of gp120, helping to prevent the onset of AIDS, and is being studied for use in HIV antibody therapy. This is the HXBc2 strain of the HIV-1 form of HIV

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate molecular model of HIV antibody therapy, shedding light on the groundbreaking research being conducted in the field of medicine. The image depicts the interaction between various components crucial to combating HIV and preventing the onset of AIDS. In vivid colors, we see the human white blood cell surface protein CD4 represented in a striking blue hue, while the HIV surface protein gp120 is depicted in vibrant green. These two proteins intertwine with each other, illustrating their critical role in disease progression. The focal point of this molecular dance is undoubtedly the anti-HIV antibody 17B, portrayed in shades of yellow and orange. This powerful antibody neutralizes gp120's effect on CD4, acting as a shield against AIDS development. Scientists are diligently studying this remarkable molecule for its potential use in HIV antibody therapy. The HXBc2 strain of HIV-1 takes center stage here—a representative form of this devastating virus that has plagued millions worldwide. Through meticulous research and analysis showcased by this image, scientists aim to unravel its secrets and develop effective treatments. With a white background emphasizing precision and clarity, this illustration serves as an invaluable tool for researchers delving into virology, pharmacology, immunology, and biochemistry. It symbolizes hope within healthcare as it unravels complex biological structures at a molecular level. Crafted by LAGUNA DESIGN/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY—an esteemed source known for their exceptional scientific imagery—this artwork encapsulates both beauty and scientific significance within its composition.
