Rock hyrax on a rock. Rock hyraxes (Procavia capensis) are found throughout southern Africa, Arabia and the Middle East. They feed on grasses, herbs and shrubs and live in large colonies with females giving birth to two or three young after a 6 to 7 month gestation period.
